The second stage for becoming a professional CA is the Intermediate Examination. It helps students strengthen their understanding of subjects such as Financial management, accounting, taxation, and law. It builds a strong base for the CA Final examinations.
Students must register online for the CA Intermediate examination of the May 2026 session. The CA Inter exam form is mandatory for students who want to appear for the Intermediate Examination. The application process of the registration form, along with the fee structure, is given below.

- The exam form for the CA Intermediate Exams is made available at the official website of the ICAI, https://icaiexam.icai.org/.
- Candidates who are scheduled to appear for the May 2026 session must complete the exam form.
- The ICAI window will be open for filling examination forms to appear for the CA Intermediate exams for the May 2026 session, from March 3rd, 2026.
- The last date for filling out examination forms to appear for the CA Intermediate Exams May 2026 session (without late fees) is March 16, 2026.
- The last date to apply for the examination forms for the CA Intermediate Exams May 2026 session (with late fees) is March 19, 2026.
- You can apply for the form on the official website of ICAI.in.
- Once the form is submitted, no changes can be made afterwards. The students are advised to keep some information handy before applying for the exam, such as their email address, mobile number, and personal identification number (PIN), a copy of the registration letter, and the certification of service, whichever is applicable. One should enter the fields of eligibility criteria, medium of Exam, Gender, Centre, and Exam applied to avoid chaos.

1. The candidates must attach a format of declaration/ certificate of service along with the examination form. There are different formats for different cases, such as:
- Certificate of Service for Candidates who provisionally applied for the Intermediate Course via the direct entry route, completed/would complete 8.5 months of articleship, including 8 months of study course as of January 1, 2026, and also completed the ICITSS on or before February 28, 2026.
- Certificate of Service for candidates who registered for/ converted to Intermediate (New)/ ATC under the Direct Entry Scheme under the category Graduates/ Post Graduates and completed or would be completing 9 months of articleship as on 1st January, 2026.
- Candidates who registered for the Intermediate (IPC) course through CPT route and appeared in the Intermediate (IPC) Examination in one or both groups but did not qualify both the groups or either of the group and converted to Intermediate (IPC) under the Direct Entry Scheme and now converted to Intermediate (New) and commenced/ would be commencing practical training on or before 31st August, 2025. Candidates who enrolled in the intermediate course via the CPT/Foundation Route and took the intermediate examination in one or both groups but failed to qualify in both or either of the groups and now converted to the Direct Entry Scheme and commenced/will be commencing practical training on or before 31st August, 2025.
- Certificate of Service for candidates who have completed their articleship.
2. Check all the mandatory fields before applying for the examination to avoid mistakes in the application form.
3. The candidates are advised to keep a copy of the PDF file generated on successful payment, for future reference.
4. All candidates are generally not required to send the PDF to the examination department, only if their photos and signatures are not visible on the screen, are required to send the PDF through the post to the examination department after affixing a photograph and signing the form and the form should be attested by a Chartered Accountant or Gazetted Officer, or the Head of an Educational Institution.
5. Last Date for Receipt of Printout of Exam Application form (PDF) filled online after affixing photograph and specimen signature, and the deadline for properly countersigning the declaration with an Institute member, a principal, or a Gazetted Officer is March 20, 2026. After March 22, 2026, no forms will be accepted. To avoid last-minute technical issues, candidates are advised to fill out the forms as soon as possible.

Technical Insight
- Make sure you are for ONE FORM AT A TIME. Also, avoid filling out two different forms at two different sites from ONE DEVICE AT A TIME.
- Use the best internet with good bandwidth browsers such as Google Chrome (41.0 onwards), Safari (3.4 onwards), Internet Explorer versions (9.0 onwards), or Mozilla Firefox (5.0 onwards).
- DO NOT USE mobile phones for filling out the application form.
- Candidates are provided with a correction window before a month or so of scheduled examination dates, which allows a candidate to change the examination centre, group, and medium. You are not able to change anything once the correction window closes.
